Flying a drone isn't a private matter. Airspace is regulated, restricted zones are real, and the fine lands on whoever flew, not whoever booked. So I check these things before sending a quote.
Where nobody flies
- Near an airport without authorisation. In Tallinn that covers a bigger area than most people expect.
- Restricted zones: military sites, prisons, the border zone, some government buildings.
- Over a crowd. A concert, a market, a sports event: not without separate permission.
- At window height beside somebody else's home. Not even if the client really wants it.
If a site falls in a restricted zone I say so immediately and for free. Sometimes the answer is applying for authorisation, sometimes it's flying lower from the other side, and sometimes the honest answer is no.
What I need from you
- Access to the site and a launch spot that isn't in the middle of a public road.
- The landowner's consent where take-off or landing happens on someone else's land.
- Anything nearby that might restrict the flight.
- A window rather than one exact hour. Weather moves.
Weather decides
Wind is a limit, not a suggestion. So are rain and wet fog. In winter there are four or five usable hours of daylight, and those are also the best ones. A low sun makes long shadows and long shadows make good pictures.
If a flight is cancelled for weather we agree a new date and it costs nothing extra. On a third cancellation either side can cancel the order and the prepayment comes back. That is written into the terms page.
What you actually see from up there
- The shape and boundaries of a plot as they really are, not as the cadastral map suggests
- Roof and façade condition without a ladder or a lift
- A building site month by month, always from the same point
- Context: what's around it, how far the sea is, where the sun tracks
- A frame that simply doesn't exist from the ground
People in frame
If bystanders or a neighbour's yard end up in shot, the material is processed so they aren't identifiable. Nobody's private property gets filmed deliberately, not even by agreement.
Prices start at €180 for ten processed frames; video and construction monitoring are separate lines in the price list.
Send the address and what you need. I'll check the airspace and reply.
